Thursday 20th January, Milk Studios, New York
Masters of Photography: The New York Launch
Last night, celebrities, artists and whisky enthusiasts alike gathered at the Milk Studios in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District to toast the US leg of our Masters of Photography global exhibition tour. Olivia Munn, Rose Byrne, Ally Hilfiger, Ari Goldberg and Stephan Merchant came along for the celebration, alongside the man of the hour himself, Albert Watson. To catch a glimpse of some photos from the event, take a look at NotCot’s blog and our photos on Flickr.
The collection of photography on display throughout the evening was representative of the exciting 12-day photographic pilgrimage that Albert Watson made from the forests of Northern Spain, where the signature sherry oak casks that we use in our whisky originate, to our spiritual home in Speyside, Scotland. The images were displayed in sequence so that guests were able to sip at their glasses of The Macallan, whilst following the great journey of a young couple as they travelled 600 miles through some truly stunning scenery.
In addition to admiring this beautiful collection of photographs, our guests came along to celebrate the special additions to our range of single malt whiskies. The first is a limited edition The Macallan Sherry Oak 20 Years Old that comes with a specially commissioned label by Watson and a set of hand signed portfolio prints, all presented in a stylish black presentation box. The second addition is an individually customised The Macallan 1946. Why 1946, you ask? This was the year that Albert Watson met his wife Elizabeth, and to mark this occasion, these bottles will feature unique labels and matching one-of-a-kind platinum prints. To register interest in purchasing one of only 36, please visit our website here.
The evening was also a reminder of the Masters of Photography competition which we are currently running, with the theme of “great journeys”. For all photography and whisky enthusiasts, this is an unparalleled opportunity to have your work judged by a panel led Albert Watson himself. As if this weren’t reason enough to enter, you can win the ultimate trip to Scotland or some highly coveted photography prizes. Please visit our Masters of Photography website to enter your photograph. We wish you all the best of luck!
