The Masters of Photography journey reaches its finale
Having been on the road with The Macallan Masters of Photography exhibition of 36 Albert Watson platinum prints for the past six months, visiting ten cities and entertaining over 5,000 VIP guests, last week we reached the end of the journey as the road show reached its final stop in Hong Kong.
The final launch event on the tour was held at the stylish Club Lusitano in Hong Kong's Central district. Over 100 guests, including media, whisky fans and VIPs enjoyed Albert Watson's stunning voyage to the heart of The Macallan and were treated to the finest cocktails highlighting the versatility of The Macallan. At the end of the evening 48 of the 50 limited edition bottles of exclusive 20 year old Sherry oak Macallan edition were sold, continuing a run of success throughout the global tour.
Since our global launch in London back in snowy December, we have unveiled the Albert Watson edition to the world. From Russia and New York, through Asia Pacific to Europe, the unique story of The Macallan's exceptional oak casks captured by one of the world's most influential photographers, has been showcased to over 5,000 guests, including avid whisky collectors, media and the art and photographic community.
In keeping with the theme, each and every event treated guests to genuine visuals taken from the 12 day shoot through the landscapes of Spain and stunning Scottish scenery.
The exquisite 36 platinum prints with the rare 1946 Macallan has attracted widespread interest at every stage, and 33 people have to date expressed a desire to own one of these one-off images and corresponding bottles of The Macallan.
Our photography competition, which closes today, 30th June 2011, has attracted nearly 7,000 entries. Albert Watson will shortly judge the final 20 and select the winner plus three runners up. Stay tuned to find out who has captured his imagination with their photography.
