Cause for celebration
A Jubilant July for The Macallan
There was much cause for celebration in the month of July. Independence Day on the 4th of July was the first of such causes and many drams of The Macallan were raised across the USA and further afield. July also marked the start of Polo Season, the pinnacle event of which was the Cartier International Polo day that drew in celebrities and rock stars alike. More recently, single malt aficionados worldwide raised a dram to National Scotch Day – a celebration with unknown origins, but worthy of a fine glass of scotch nonetheless.
Here at The Macallan, we also celebrated the arrival of our new Brand Ambassador – Mr Charlie Whitfield. Charlie will be representing us in North East USA, so keep an eye out for him at our events in that area! If you'd like to read about what his favourite dram is or how he got into The Macallan, read his interview here. You can also get in touch with him via his Twitter profile.
There was much cause for celebration as we announced the winner and runners up of our Masters of Photography competition, as selected by Albert Watson himself. Once again, we'd like to congratulate the winners on their excellent photographs and we hope that they enjoy their prizes. If you didn't win this year, do not despair. We are planning the next Masters of Photography as we write this blog and you will hear all about it later on this year.
Whatever it is that you're celebrating, if you're venturing out to a bar, you'll want to make sure that it's a great whisky bar. Luckily, we have this covered too. We teamed up with our friends at Whisky Magazine to uncover the Great Whisky Bars of the World 2011. We asked you all to tell us your favourite whisky bar and we had some great suggestions, both on the blog and on our Facebook page. Congratulations to all those that received a free copy of the guide and we hope that we've provided you all with some inspiration for your next whisky bar visit.
Finally, it's time to announce our advocate of the month for July. The accolade goes to the esteemed Mike Kurfis. Mike is a devotee of The Macallan and always has a bottle of the Fine Oak 12yo on hand. To celebrate both his birthday and National Scotch Day, he poured some wee drams of our Fine Oak 21yo. Mike will be receiving two branded tumblers as a gift, so that he can celebrate in true Macallan style next time!
