Designed by Lalique's renowned design
An objet d'art and a collector's item
This Macallan in Lalique decanter has been designed by Lalique's renowned design team based at their studio in Paris, inspired by the artistic genius of René Lalique's legacy and The Macallan's Curiously Small Stills that give it the distinctive fruity aromas and rich mouth feel. Lalique's designers have interpreted the riveted entry hatch feature on The Macallan's spirit stills as a circle of raised "cabochons" on the face of the decanter, creating an overall structure which is distinctly compact yet reflecting the smooth curves of the spirit stills themselves.
Other defining design features of the decanter mirror the specific shapes and aspects of the still: the 'satineé' effect up the sides and shoulders to the stopper simulates the shape of the hatch handle, while the copper cap atop the crystal stopper has been made from an old Macallan copper spirit still. It is a singular design that has been specially created for The Macallan.
The decanter was blown, pressed, fashioned, cut, engraved and polished at Lalique's factory in Wingen-sur-Moder in the Alsace region of France, close to Strasbourg. During the process it passes through the hands of up to 15 of Lalique's Master Crystal Makers to create a flawless and unique objet d'art. Accredited 'Artists' who train for up to 20 years, many have attained the 'Meilleur ouvrier de France' – the finest craftsman of France award.
