The Macallan Masters of Taste
Behind the scenes at El Celler De Can Roca
As the setting for our Masters of Taste Ultimate Dinners we thought it only fair to give you a sneak peek behind the scenes, so step inside El Celler de Can Roca and join us for a tour of the Roca brothers’ culinary playground...
Snugly hidden in a suburban neighbourhood in Girona, the World’s Best Restaurant sits proudly. Upon entering the courtyard you are instantly awed by the mix of Catalan meets modern elegance and a sense of calm overcomes you...
The decor is crisp white and fresh, divided by glass walls that make the eye travel far. Overlooking operations is the traditional home of Joan Roca with his dog, a regular voyeur from the house’s balcony.
Inside the silent cellar sleeps over 60,000 bottles and sommelier Josep Roca stands guard. One could get lost in the cavernous cellar studying their rows and rows of fine wines, whiskies and spirits – or maybe that’s wishful thinking on our part?
Journey into the kitchen and your senses come alive – this is where the Rocas’ gastronomic imaginations are brought to life and you witness true masters at work. In every corner of the kitchen there are elements of culinary genius, from a machine distilling mountain earth to a chef creating cloud like foam. Joan, Josep and Jordi are inspirational; world-class innovators whose commitment to their craft is exceptional.
The Roca Brothers have used all their senses to interpret the essence of The Macallan and create The Ultimate Dinner. Our collaboration will break down classic perceptions of food pairing and enter into a whole new, awe-inspiring world of taste and flavour experience. Guests at our Ultimate Dinner will have the opportunity to visit the kitchen and the cellar, as well as enjoy 14 courses paired with 14 whiskies, many of them never released. For a sneak peek, watch the making of The Ultimate Dinner in this exclusive video here.
