Triple Cask Matured

The Range

Triple Cask Matured

An extraordinarily smooth and delicate range with a complex character, matured in European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and ex-bourbon American oak casks.

The Story of Triple Cask Matured

A Trinity Of Spirits

The Macallan Triple Cask Matured range offers an extraordinarily smooth and delicate yet complex character drawn from European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and ex-bourbon American oak casks. Previously known as The Macallan Fine Oak, the range offers the same whisky with a new name and a new bottle; reflecting the quality of our whiskies and unveiling the skills and craft of the Macallan Masters.

This triple cask combination gives a more complex style, from the prominent character of American oak in the younger ages to the more developed European oak character as you progress through the range - against the consistently smooth richness and mouth-feel characteristic typical to The Macallan.

The trinity of spirits in our Triple Cask Matured range are matured separately and expertly brought together when the time is right by the Master Distiller and his team, to produce a range with fresh flavours. Vibrant citrus and light oak with velvety cocoa and wood spice develop their intensity through the range.

We are the only distillery creating fresh oak sherry seasoned casks from American oak; that impart a lighter colour, with sweet, soft aromas and flavours of vanilla and fresh fruits. The oak is sawn and air-dried in Kentucky, before being shipped to southern Spain and hand built into casks by the coopers of Jerez. These casks are then sherry seasoned in the same way as the European oak before making their journey to Scotland to be filled with our 'new make' spirit.

Imported directly from premium bourbon whiskey distillers, the addition of American oak bourbon seasoned barrels imparts more pronounced flavours of coconut and light citrus fruits together with the lighter colour and sweetness associated with American oak.
