General Experience Information

General and private experiences are available to book weekdays up to four months ahead of visiting, and on Saturdays and Sundays until 13 December 2026. If your future date is not yet showing, please revisit the website closer to the time of your visit.Advance booking is essential and you can view The Macallan Estate experiences and check latest availability&nbsp;<a href="https://www.themacallan.com/en/experience-the-macallan/distillery/distillery-experiences">here</a>The Macallan Estate opening from April 2026 is:General experiences: bookable Thursdays to SundaysPrivate bespoke experiences: bookable Mondays to Wednesdays.From November 2026 to March 2027 it is:General experiences: bookable Fridays to Sundays.Private experiences: bookable Mondays to Thursdays.

What is your opening and availability?

General public appointments are available until 13 December 2026 and private experience appointments until Tuesday, 15 December. We will reopen after a festive break in January 2027, dates to be shared soon.

Is The Macallan Estate open over the winter holidays?

We offer a range of curated experiences designed to take our guests on a journey of discovery as they immerse themselves in the heritage and mastery of The Macallan. What distillery experiences does The Macallan Estate offer? 

Yes, all groups will be guided through the distillery by one of The Macallan hosts. Experiences are delivered in English.&nbsp;

Are all The Macallan Distillery experiences guided? 

Yes, a whisky tasting element is included in each distillery experience. The Macallan whisky featured in the tasting will vary depending on the type of experience you have booked and product availability at the time. Non-alcoholic serves are also available.&nbsp;

Is a tasting included in each distillery experience? 

We ask for 48 hours’ notice to cancel your experience or dining booking. A full refund will be issued within these times.We will do our best to accommodate changes up until 24 hours before your original booking time although we’re unable to guarantee we’ll be able to meet your request.

What if I need to cancel or change my booking?

Working with smaller groups helps us to provide a tailored and intimate experience during your time with us.General public distillery experiences are for up to eight people. That includes our bespoke whisky tastings hosted at The Macallan Bar, like Story of Oak or Through the Ages. For tables at The Macallan Bar and for personal shopping at The Macallan Boutique, we take bookings for up to four people.To discuss a larger group booking, please call 01340 318 000 or email <a href="mailto:contact@themacallan.com">contact@themacallan.com</a>&nbsp;

Do you take group bookings?

Our team is committed to making your experience as inclusive as possible. If you or anyone in your group has mobility needs simply contact us in advance. Is there disabled access at the distillery? 

Our address is The Macallan Distillery, Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, Aberlour, AB38 9RX. For What3Words use fantastic.ever.soonest.Speyside is rural and transport options are extremely limited. There are no on-demand services, like Uber, only a small number of taxi firms and no public transport to the distillery. For these reasons, we strongly recommend you book transfers ahead of your visit. Our customer services team can advise on local operators, please call them on +44 (0)1340 318 000.We advise you to allow adequate journey time as rural roads can be busy, particularly in the summer months, and ideally to arrive around 15 minutes before your experience begins.Rail – Nearest train stations are at Keith (25 mins), Elgin (25 mins) and Aviemore (1 hour).Air – Nearest airports are at Aberdeen (1 hour 10) and Inverness (1 hour 20).We do not recommend walking to The Macallan Estate as there is no pedestrian path along the route of the entrance gates.

How do I plan my travel to The Macallan Estate?

Our experiences are exclusively for guests over the age of 18 years old. We operate a Challenge 25 policy and may ask to see ID. We are unable to accommodate children while parents or carers are on an experience.

May I bring children with me?

There’s no dress code, but we recommend light layers and sensible footwear. Smart casual is advised for dining in TimeSpirit.&nbsp;

Do you have a dress code?

Please follow signs for The Macallan deliveries entrance and our security staff will give you access.

I have a high-sided vehicle, how do I enter?

We do not currently offer gift vouchers.

Do you provide gift vouchers?

Our bookings calendar always shows latest availability. It may be that the experience you have chosen is fully booked. Or it may a date beyond our current operational times, in which case we advise checking back three to four months ahead of your visit.

I can’t find the date I want to visit displayed on the website?

We have a waiting list for Time for Excellence and Mastery experiences. If there is no availability showing on your preferred date, please click the waiting list link, visible under the Book Now button on the booking calendar, and follow the instructions.

Is there a waiting list in case of cancellations?

Yes, please remember that all visits must be pre-booked prior to arrival, including visits to The Macallan Bar and The Macallan Boutique. For bar and boutique, each experience is for up to four people.

I’m a tour operator, may I book a group bar/boutique experience?

Assistance dogs are permitted on the Macallan Estate, we kindly ask that you let us know in advance by calling +44 (0)1340 318 000.&nbsp;

May I bring my dog?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your experience begins. Make your way to the entrance of The Macallan Distillery where you will be greeted by one of our hosts, who will guide you through your experience. All experiences are delivered in English. There is no need to print your booking confirmation email.

What should I expect on arrival?

Scotland has a zero-tolerance approach to drink driving which is stricter than the rest of the UK and most other countries. If you are driving, you may nose the whisky, and we will provide sample bottles to decant your whiskies to enjoy at home. Please let us know whilst making your booking if you are driving, or booking on behalf of a driver.We always have a selection of non-alcoholic drinks available.
