The Macallan Sherry Oak 40 Years Old - 2017 Release is a rare single malt that is testament to the exceptional oak casks that define the entire Sherry Oak range; transforming the rich, fruity and full bodied ‘new make’ spirit into a single malt of great richness and character.
Matured in hand-picked Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain and crafted from an intriguing combination of three cask types – a European oak sherry butt, a European oak sherry hogshead and an American oak sherry butt - the result is a rich and complex whisky with a distinctive style and intense character defined by dried fruits, ginger, wood spice and cinnamon and its natural deep copper colour. Released at the end of 2017, only 465 bottles of this release were made available worldwide.

Deep copper.

Nose
Sultanas with gingers and wood spice. A background of sweet cinnamon and citrus emerges.

Opens with soft cinnamon spices, quickly developing into a mouth coating of date and figs.
