The Macallan Red Collection 77 Years Old
The Macallan 77 Years Old is the latest addition to The Red Collection, slowly matured over seven extraordinary decades under the watchful eye of generations of whisky makers.
During these decades of slumber, the carefully selected wood shaped the unique character of the whisky delivering the natural colour, distinctive aromas and full flavours of this aged single malt.
77 Years in the making
The Red Collection is an exquisite range of distinguished and rare single malt whiskies. Each expression within the collection reflects the pursuit of uncompromised excellence which has driven The Macallan since 1824. The Macallan Red Collection 77 Years Old is the first high-aged guest release to join the collection since the range's introduction. The distinctive red colour is inspired by the significance of red throughout the history of The Macallan. It also reflects the key flavour notes of dried fruits, sweet woodsmoke and traditional flavours of Cherry Bakewell.
FROM PAST TO PRESENT
To celebrate the launch of The Macallan 77 Years Old, a new animated film and collection of illustrations have been created in collaboration with renowned Spanish painter and artist Javi Aznarez.
Javi Aznarez depicts The Macallan Red Collection transcending from the past to the present, culminating in a moment of celebration at The Macallan Bar, located in the heart of The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland.
PATIENT MATURATION
The ‘new make’ spirit from The Macallan’s Curiously Small stills was laid down in hand-picked oak casks and left to mature for seventy-seven years, until it had reached this perfect moment of maturation. During these decades of slumber, the carefully selected wood shaped the unique character of the whisky delivering the natural colour, distinctive aromas and full flavours of this aged single malt.
