The Macallan Red Collection reflects our deep respect for time, tradition and craftsmanship. It is a celebration of the rich range of reds present naturally in The Macallan—in every step of the process.
The distinctive red colour weaves its way through our history, starting with the name of our founder Alexander Reid—literally “The Red”, to The Macallan’s ‘Choice Old’ range released over a century ago in 1903, through to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles of The Macallan with a red ribbon in the 1980s.

Patient Maturation
The Macallan Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, presents a peerless single malt whisky that has slowly matured over six extraordinary decades under the watchful eye of generations of whisky makers, until it has reached this perfect moment of maturation. The ‘new make’ spirit from The Macallan’s small copper stills was laid down in hand-picked oak casks and left to mature for sixty years.
During these decades of slumber, the carefully selected wood shaped the unique character of the whisky delivering the natural colour, distinctive aromas and full flavours of this aged single malt.

Polished Mahogany

Nose
A combination of sweet and fruit notes on the nose; baked peach and pineapple with figs and dates. Orange with wisps of cocoa beans, and hints of leather merge creating a luxuriously resinous aroma.

Palate
Dry antique oak note and hints of ginger developing into tropical papaya and mango. The orange notes develop on the palate into a rich orange and lime marmalade flavour with bitter sweet combinations of cocoa, vanilla, and raisin.

A complex finish with lime, liquorice and dark chocolate.

Presentation
The oak presentation box is crafted by hand in the UK, using the same sustainable European oak we use to make our casks. The box has been beautifully upholstered with sustainably sourced, soft scottish leather from our renowned partners, Bridge of Weir Leather.
