Shares in The Macallan were placed on the London Stock Exchange in the same year that the distillery’s maltings closed. At the Mexico Olympic Games, Bob Beamon smashed the world long jump record with a jump of 8.9 metres, while Manchester United won the European Cup. A McDonalds’ franchisee, Jim Delligatti, created the very first Big Mac, and the computer mouse is also invented.
