Masters of Photography: Master Class
From the iconic Forth Road Bridge to a chip shop on the Orkney Islands The Masters of Photography: Elliott Erwitt Edition saw Elliott interpret the unique richness and quirkiness of our Scottish character! We challenged you to capture the character of your land & share it with us for our Master Class Competition.
The competition came to close on 6 March and so we began our photographic journey around the world discovering the diverse and inspiring images you submitted. Today we bring you the final 50...
From the streets of Paris to a beach in Miami the shortlist of images capture the very essence of people, buildings, landscapes and emotions of the many cities around the world.
Anena Burger captured ‘Bowing to the Sun’ in an image depicting the moment the sun set over The Great Karoo region, one of the most arid regions of South Africa. Much like Anena we think sunsets like these ‘take your breath away’!
Valeria Massimino captured ‘Elisa’s Soul’, an image of an 84 year old woman who lives in La Boca, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Valeria says: ‘in her eyes you can see his soul.’
Bjorn van Sinttruije’s shot taken in the romantic city of Paris shows a bride arriving at French restaurant & cafe ‘La Maison Rose’. A white van is seen parked with its doors open. Bjorn drew on Elliott’s quirky style and captioned this image ‘The Wedding Car’.
Each of the final 50 has its own story and has captured the character in their own way – can you see your image in our shortlist?
If your image appears among the top 50 showcased on the left you could be in with a chance of winning the high performance Leica X Vario, the Leica C digital compact camera or our Ice Ball Maker and glassware so you can enjoy a dram of Macallan with maximum chill and minimum dilution.
Andreas Kaufmann, Chairman of Leica, Leica Academy Tutor, Robin Sinha and our very own Director of The Macallan, Ken Grier will now decide on the three winning images which will be announced on Wednesday 23 April. Stay tuned...
