THE MACALLAN
FINE & RARE 1937

1937

The Year that Was

George Gershwin, most famous for composing numerous songs and Broadway shows, died at age 38. Hollywood released his musical ‘Shall We Dance’ the same year, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and featuring the song ‘Let's Call The Whole Thing Off’. In the UK, the steam locomotive, Mallard, sets a new world speed record for steam by reaching 125.88mph.
