    1945

    World War II finally ended and The United Nations was established at a San Francisco conference, holding its first meeting the following year. The first ballpoint pen was sold for $12 by Gimbell’s department store in New York, and Grace Hopper discovered the first ‘bug’ in a computer programme, when she used tweezers to remove a dead moth from a relay and taped it into a logbook.
