Distilled 2000 – Bottled 2024, Cask No. 27
The first Fine & Rare release distilled in the new millennia is presented at its natural cask strength. Cask no.27 was filled on the 24th February 2000 and bottled 24 years later in celebration of the 200th anniversary of The Macallan.
THE YEAR THAT WAS
2000
The Year 2000 held great global anticipation, reflection on what had been and what would come, what the future would hold. We were at once looking back to all that had been, whilst forward facing – imagining, anticipation far beyond our moment in time to what might be.
In our anniversary year, 2024, we celebrate legacy in a special way as we remember our founder and the pioneers who have followed.
THE EXPERIENCE
Colour
The glorious autumnal russet hue of this 2000 Fine & Rare release is attributable to almost a quarter of a century of maturation in a first fill sherry seasoned European oak butt. A comforting resinous aroma with subtle hints of fresh vanilla, ground coffee and white chocolate on the nose mingles with woody brazil nuts and a whisper of cinnamon.
On the palate a fruity, buttery sweetness of chocolate covered raisins and brittle toffee gives way to the rich complexity of oak and forest fruits whilst subtle cinnamon notes lend a spicy warmth throughout. The finish of rich oak, citrus peel, and lingering sweet spice dances long on the palate.

The theme of celebration has been delightfully brought to life in this, our 200th anniversary year. Playfully giving centre stage to celebration, executed with verve and a nod to The Macallan’s signature red colour.
