A Night on Earth, The Finale

The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team has crafted a whisky inspired by the soulful flavours and spirited aromas of New Orleans, inviting the senses on a journey steeped in rhythm, warmth and character. 

A precise balance of sherry seasoned American and European oak casks, meticulously selected by Whisky Maker Diane Stuart, creates a seamless harmony of sweet and spicy notes, resulting in a flavour profile as vibrant and layered as the city itself. From the nose through to the finish, this expression reflects the signature aromas and soulful flavours that define The Big Easy.

Widely regarded as the birthplace of jazz - and the Sazerac - New Orleans has long celebrated the art of invention and flavour, turning the everyday into something extraordinary. 

At New Year that spirit intensifies. A kaleidoscope of cultures and cuisines fuel the celebrations, as bars brim with energy, jazz spills onto the streets and drums echo through the night. The city welcomes the year ahead with the same resilience and soul that have shaped it for centuries.

It is this distinctive atmosphere that inspired A Night on Earth, The Finale, a celebration of New Orleans and the rich cultural heritage that continues to shape the city today.

In the final release in the A Night on Earth series, the presentation box is brought to life through the evocative artwork of New Orleans born artist, Hill Spriggins. 

Hill draws on the memories of celebrations in her native city, translating its energy, colour and rhythm into a striking visual narrative - palpable in each layer that takes a musical journey through the bustling city on New Year's.

The vibrant red layer captures the energy of Bourbon Street, where the pulse of jazz and brass fills the air and neon lights dance across the night. The rich blue layer moves to Canal Street, celebrating the vibrant atmosphere of its jazz clubs and the joy of shared moments, with a New Year’s toast over Sazerac cocktails evoking warmth, friendship, and connection. The yellow layer offers a quieter, more reflective perspective, capturing the beauty of the first day of the new year through an encounter with street musicians and the city’s gentle awakening. 

Hill’s bold, expressive artwork captures the pulse of New Orleans, reflecting its warmth, vibrancy and unmistakable charm. In a tribute to a city that dances through time, each layer invites you on a journey through New Orleans during New Year, where music, community and celebration come together.
