The Macallan M Black is the latest masterpiece in the remarkable M series of single malt whiskies for which The Macallan partnered with renowned creative director Fabien Baron and crystal masters Lalique, to create one of the world’s most beautifully designed and meticulously handcrafted crystal decanters to encase an intriguing single malt.
An evolution of the iconic M Decanter, this new step into lustrous black crystal from Lalique was crafted to reflect the diverse history of The Macallan single malt. The Macallan M Black is the latest and most complex release in the M series with the Lalique decanter presenting a striking complement to a subtly smoky Macallan.
Reflecting a lifetime of whisky, M Black truly encapsulates The Macallan’s deep history and represents absolute time distilled; captured in flawless black crystal. A single malt capturing time gone by, M Black is crafted from a very limited number of casks, telling the story of exceptional cask ageing and the commitment taken to nurture and mature The Macallan spirit.
The M Black whisky is a testament to the custodians who have nurtured and guarded the casks and their precious contents for generations. This first release of M Black delivers dark fruit, chocolate, wood spice and an edge of peat aromas. The intensity of smoke increases on the taste but serves to complement the flavours of green apples, citrus and dried fruit.
CHALLENGING CONVENTIONS
Envisioned by Fabien Baron, the M decanter’s tall, slim dimensions and iconic geometric form push the boundaries of traditional decanter design, as the six facets pay homage to The Macallan’s heritage, the Six Pillars foundation stones. With this aesthetic evolution, the M Black is fashioned in the highest-grade black crystal, with each handcrafted decanter uniting tradition with striking originality.
Using black crystal – a more complex and technically challenging material than clear crystal – Lalique has challenged traditional conventions of crystal making as the M Black decanter emits an enchanting vision of contemporary black crystal with spectacular depth.
