The Macallan Red Collection is an exquisite range of distinguished and rare single malt whiskies, crafted from some of the world’s oldest and rarest casks.
The distinctive red colour is inspired by the significance of red throughout the history of The Macallan. Today, our Whisky Mastery Team upholds our founding principles, sharing Alexander’s belief that small stills create greater flavour and character.
Distilled decades ago, in The Macallan’s curiously small stills, each expression has been matured in sherry seasoned oak casks under the watchful eye of several generations of whisky makers.
FROM PAST TO PRESENT
To celebrate the launch of The Macallan 79 Years Old, an animated film and a series of illustrations have been created in collaboration with renowned Spanish painter and artist, Javi Aznarez.
The visual journey begins in the TimeSpirit Restaurant at The Macallan Estate, where diners are gathered around a table of culinary wonders. At the centre stands The Macallan 79 Years Old. When one guest opens the bottle, we are transported back in time to the era of Roderick Kemp, the pioneer of sherry seasoned oak casks, whose most prized casks were once marked in red chalk, a tradition that echoes in the expressions of today.
