This whisky ensures the vanilla and lighter notes found in sherry seasoned American oak are allowed to shine, whilst balance is found in notes imparted from sherry seasoned European oak bringing a rich complexity.

The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old brings together the perfect harmony of sherry seasoned American and European oak casks, matured for a minimum of 15 years. This is a classic The Macallan expression with exceptional depth of flavour and aroma.
This single malt delivers dried fruit and butterscotch aromas on the nose, with baked apples, balanced with notes of chocolate and smooth oak. On the palate notes of sweet raisin and sultana builds with cinnamon and nutmeg, alongside creamy vanilla. A medium finish with lingering oak and spice.

The long-standing collaboration with Jerez, its winemakers, and cask artisans has enabled The Macallan to produce exceptional quality whisky while preserving the timeless craftsmanship in each step of the whisky making process.
For the Double Cask 15 Years Old, Carson created a piece decoding the mastery of a cooperage, showcasing the skills and precision behind the craft. The hand-drawn cask, carefully detailed in varying shades, reflects the artistry involved. The clean, sharp silhouette of the cut bottle serves as a metaphor for the exacting nature of the cooper's craftsmanship.
Double Cask text is overlaid, generating new, interesting and complex figures, and the saturation of fonts and text demonstrate the complexity of mixing the two casks.

Meet David Carson
We have partnered with David Carson across The Macallan Timeless Collections. We asked him to go beyond the world of digital design and work with his hands again, using paper, paint and elements from nature, making each art piece unique and unrepeatable. His unconventional and incomparable style characterised by freedom spreads, overlapping photos, mixed and altered fonts and a total rejection of the grid brought him worldwide acclaim and transformed the design industry forever. He remains to this day resolutely grid free, unrivalled in his creativity and devoted to his craft.
Sherry Seasoned Excellence
The Macallan’s exceptional European and American oak casks spend time in our Spanish bodegas during which time they are filled with sherry wine to season them.
Over the coming months, sherry wine gently rests within the exceptional oak casks. These sherry seasoned oak casks are then emptied, and transported to our Distillery here in Speyside, Scotland. Upon arrival at The Macallan Estate, these exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks are filled with our robust and fruity new make spirit.
Over years our whiskies will mature, drawing aromas, flavour and natural colour from these sherry seasoned oak casks. An exceptional story of sherry and wood.
