The incredible story of our sherry seasoned oak casks contains an essential chapter in the picturesque region of Jerez, Spain.

The cooperages that create our European and American oak casks and the sherry bodegas that season them are located in this region. Our long standing collaboration with Jerez, its winemakers and cask artisans has allowed The Macallan to produce exceptional single malts without compromising exceptional craftsmanship since our founding in 1824. 

Today, The Macallan has formed a partnership with Bodegas Grupo Estevez S.L., owners of renowned vineyards and bodegas of Valedespino, one of the most historic sherry houses dating back to 1264 and where they make and mature the ultra-premium Valdespino brand of sherries and aperitifs. This partnership brings us even closer to the tradition of sherry wine making and seasoning of oak casks, key in the maturation of our single malt Scotch whisky.

This partnership builds on The Macallan’s long-standing relationship with the Jerez community. 

In Jerez the natural beauty and essence of the landscape becomes one with the cask itself. This collaboration will bring us even closer to the beautiful craftsmanship around the art of crafting sherry wine and the rich tapestries of the surrounding communities.
