The story of Spirit culminates in a shared experience centred around the oak tree which symbolises strength and endurance and the importance of natural elements. From the experience, we introduce the latest Harmony collection, which comprises two products, Vibrant Oak and travel exclusive Guardian Oak.
THE EXPERIENCE
The Macallan Harmony Collection Vibrant Oak is linked to the character Ayla, who represents vibrance and the future.
Ayla is the daughter of a beloved Master whisky maker, who for years has strived to recreate an elusive shade of red that reminds her of her father and the red chalk he would use in his work. In her constant searching, she has become detached from the natural world around her. It is in this quest to reconnect with nature that Ayla’s pursuit of the perfect shade of red connects her to The Macallan’s history.
In this search for the perfect red, Ayla embarks on a journey to rediscover her heritage and reconnect with nature. Along this path she encounters various characters and elements of nature such as thistles, Fergus the fox, the peacock, the salmon, and the Highlander - all inspired by The Macallan, Highland culture and nature.
This draws her closer to the richness of the Scottish Highlands, celebrating the importance of our deep connection with nature. She meets her guide in Davonna, the spiritual guardian of the Highlands and character linked to The Macallan Harmony Collection Guardian Oak. Davonna embodies the protection of nature, reflecting both Cirque du Soleil and The Macallan's core values of nature and the preservation of the natural ecosystem.
Our History
The colour red has deep and long-standing significance for The Macallan. The red thread begins with Alexander Reid, who founded The Macallan in 1824. His surname means ‘the red one’ in Scots and was originally associated with red hair. Almost a century later, in 1903, the owner of The Macallan, Roderick Kemp, launched The Macallan Choice Old range. It was reportedly shipped in cases labelled with distinctive red print to distinguish it from The Macallan’s existing whiskies, which were transported in packaging featuring black ink.
