An essential part of The Macallan’s story takes place in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where our exceptional sherry-seasoned oak casks – the greatest single contributor to our whisky's outstanding flavour and natural colour – are crafted to our exacting specification. In the vineyards of Jerez de la Frontera the Andalucian sun grows the grapes that go on to become sherry, which seasons our casks.
The Harvest each year marks a significant moment when the grapes that have grown in these Spanish vineyards embark their transformative journey to become exquisite sherry wines. Amongst the vineyards and natural landscapes of Jerez, Scottish singer Georgia Cécile performs a song composed to celebrate the occasion.
Take the Best is a musical composition that artistically expresses the coming together of Spain and Scotland, the fusion of these two natural landscapes, to create an exceptional single malt whisky – The Macallan. The song was created and recorded by The Barley Collective, an ensemble of Guy Barker, as conductor and co-composer, Chris Hill as arranger, producer and bass player, and John McLaren, as lyricist and co-composer, featuring vocalist Georgia Cécile.
