Two centuries have passed since Alexander Reid distilled the first batch of whisky in his curiously small stills and thus began the extraordinary legacy of The Macallan. Now in 2024, we are looking back on that legacy and everything that is still to come as we build upon it.

Through two limited expressions, we have created a new red spiky world; a visual language where time travel and nature connect and protecting spikes are the heroes.

To commemorate The Macallan’s significant milestone of turning 200 Years Young, we embark on a journey where time ebbs and flows and nature protects what is fragile and precious, with spikes surrounding what is beautiful and fragile.

A tribute to our pioneers, their contribution and dreams, and to all the people and stories that have made The Macallan what it is today. They are our most beloved spirit.

Jenni Fagan is an award-winning Scottish novelist, poet, screenwriter and artist.
Javi Aznarez, a celebrated Spanish artist, painter and illustrator, who after collaborating with The Macallan on Red Collection, returns to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the brand.
Their talents, brought together to The Heart of The Spirit through words and illustrations to capture the key moments of our history.

ROOTS BY EMELI SANDÉ, TIME TRAVELLING SINCE 1824
In celebration of The Macallan turning 200 Years Young, internationally renowned British singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé, alongside Ollie Green, has composed a poignant soundtrack, ‘Roots.’
It is an artistic celebration of The Macallan’s legacy, our roots in nature, craftsmanship and community, as we travel through two centuries past.
The Heart of The Spirit Book
200 years of The Macallan depicted in a limited-edition, poetry book written by Jenni Fagan, illustrated by Javi Aznarez. With only 1,000 available, this book is protected by a hand-crafted oak wooden case and includes a hand-signed art.
