The Macallan Carta Nautica
An origin story that brings together three cask journeys to create a single malt of sophisticated eccentricity.
After years of careful maturation, The Macallan Carta Nautica brings together the perfect selection of sherry seasoned American oak casks, alongside casks that once held bourbon, including some which curiously completed their maturation in sherry seasoned American oak. A rewarding, well-travelled triumvirate.
In Latin America, The Macallan Carta Nautica is available exclusively through select retailer partners. Availability will vary by market, with further details to be shared locally once the whisky arrives in each destination.
A Purposeful Journey
The Macallan Carta Nautica is a crafted culmination of different continents and cultures, connected by the Atlantic Ocean. Across its depths, the finest oak staves and casks have navigated the waves from North America, with some casks heading directly to Scotland. Others journey to Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, to be seasoned with the finest sherry wine before finally reaching The Macallan Estate in Speyside.
Derived from the Spanish term for 'nautical chart', Carta Nautica tells the story of a purposeful journey - a guided passage of our oak across the Atlantic Ocean. Inspired by the charts once used to navigate unknown waters, it reflects the spirit of exploration and the courage to pursue new horizons that continue to define The Macallan.

Transporting the Senses
A gentle nutty sweetness derived from sherry seasoned American oak casks takes centre stage. Casks that previously held bourbon deliver vanilla and lemon characteristics to brighten the profile. This is followed by a unique complexity and honeyed depths from that curious cask mix, which our Whisky Mastery Team chose to intrepidly explore.
While the casks have traversed the Atlantic, the whisky transports the senses to new heights of appreciation. The result is a delightfully anomalous single malt of exceptional charm.
