The Story of Colour Collection
The Colour Collection begins in our vineyards in Jerez de la Frontera, where our sherry journey begins. We celebrate the vibrant culture, community and craftsmanship behind the creation of sherry wine. It is this sherry that seasons each of our exceptional oak casks that, in turn, imparts aroma, flavour and natural colour to each of our whiskies.
COULEUR NATURELLE
La Macallan Colour Collection célèbre notre engagement en faveur de la couleur naturelle, couvrant le spectre de la couleur naturelle imprégnée par des années de maturation dans d'exceptionnels fûts de chêne de Jerez de la Frontera, en Espagne.
La couleur s'approfondit avec chaque expression d'âge dans la Colour Collection, du chêne pâle du 12 ans d'âge à la châtaigne brûlée du 30 ans d'âge. Les fûts ont été soigneusement sélectionnés pour célébrer le spectre de la couleur naturelle.
Le whisky acquiert ses couleurs éclatantes au contact du bois de chêne, tandis que l'assaisonnement au xérès contribue à la qualité, à l'arôme et à la profondeur de sa signature. Cette relation avec le bois et les fûts de sherry s'exprime dans le liquide, le profil d'âge, l'emballage et dans le travail de collaboration avec le graphiste et artiste visionnaire David Carson.

The Macallan and David Carson
The Macallan Colour Collection Collection is seen through the lens of our artistic translator, David Carson. It is rooted in our sherry and wood provenance underpinned by our Six Pillars and many other aspects that make The Macallan what it is.
The packaging and artwork draws inspiration from Jerez’s terroir, its culture and traditions, rich colours, and the distinctive character of this iconic region.
The Land of Sherry
This Collection celebrates our commitment to natural colour, showcasing hues developed over years of maturation. Interaction with the sherry seasoned oak wood imparts vivid tones to the whisky, bringing each shade to life.
In Jerez de la Frontera, the birthplace of sherry wine and the home of albariza soil, our casks are seasoned with sherry wine. The sherry seasoned oak casks imbue The Macallan with their exquisite flavours, aromas and natural colour during maturation.
This artwork is an expression of the artistic and conceptual elements that make up Colour Collection. The pattern and colour palette of each expression from 12 Years Old onwards can be found in this visual. A collage of Jerez’s raw expressions, the town, albariza soil, grapevines, and grapes come together with the pattern and the colours palettes of each expression.
Sherry Seasoned Excellence
The Macallan’s exceptional European and American oak casks spend time in our Spanish bodegas during which time they are filled with sherry wine to season them.
Over the coming months, sherry wine gently rests within the exceptional oak casks. These sherry seasoned oak casks are then emptied, and transported to our Distillery here in Speyside, Scotland. Upon arrival at The Macallan Estate, these exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks are filled with our robust and fruity new make spirit.
Over years our whiskies will mature, drawing aromas, flavour and natural colour from these sherry seasoned oak casks. An exceptional story of sherry and wood.
