The Macallan Carta Nautica, Distilled in 1987
A rare bottling inspired by Atlantic journeys spanning over two centuries.
This 38 Years Old single malt whisky began its maturation in the finest oak casks seasoned with sherry wine from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, before being transferred into casks that once held bourbon from America to continue its maturation.
Careful hands, thoughtful hearts, nothing rushed, nothing wasted.
Distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2026, this exclusive single malt has reached the age of 38 Years Old with poise and equanimity, after years of maturation at The Macallan Estate. However, the early life of the whisky was marked by a coming together of oak staves and casks from widely separated sources that would come to define its character.
A purposeful journey, this single malt was created using oak casks seasoned with sherry wine from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, before being transferred to casks that previously held bourbon from America to be further matured.
The combined influence from the two different cask types has worked with carefully planned charm, creating an anomalous bottling by The Macallan.
