Stories Behind the Artwork
In this artwork by David Carson, the European oak is represented on the left, the American oak on the right. Textures and colours serve as a raw expression of the whisky's sophistication. Two "double cask" texts, with overlapping letters arranged in a curious fashion, create a sense of complexity and nuance that is present in this special single malt. Oak logs and grapevine leaves illustrations are printed on aged paper, to convey craftsmanship and the idea of the time it takes to create this spirit.
The Double Cask 30 Years Old celebrates the balance of sherry seasoned American and European oak casks, showcasing vibrant golden hues and delivering a perfect balance of sweet and spicy notes. The American oak brings vanilla and fruity sweetness, while the European oak adds soft spices and dried fruits. Together - a harmonious balance.

The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team identifies specific casks matured for a minimum period of thirty years, expertly bringing them together to produce this exceptional single malt with a sweet, warm character.
First launched in 2016, The Macallan Double Cask Collection sits perfectly between our Sherry Oak Collection and Colour Collection.
